It’s that time of year again and the 2013 Carlingford Oyster Festival promises four days of...

Oysters, Oysters, Oysters and lots of Fun for all the Family! 

Featuring the nationally renowned "Morgan’s Fine Fish Carlingford Oyster Pearl" Competition - 12 Ladies will compete for the Crown in a weekend of fun filled activities, a sense of humour is essential! The winner will be crowned "Morgan's Fine Fish Carlingford Oyster Pearl 2013" and receive €1000 CASH with a One year’s full membership to The Four Seasons Hotel Leisure Centre in Carlingford.

Erin O'Connor the 2012 Oyster PearlThe fun programme begins with its "Morgan’s Fine Fish Carlingford Oyster Pearl" opening reception on Thursday evening and continues through the weekend with a colourful Festival Street Market, lively street entertainment, Artisan Craft & Food Stalls & local restaurants offering delicious fishy dishes, chowders and local cuisine.

A Sailing Regatta on Carlingford Lough and Guided Medieval tours of Carlingford are all to be enjoyed.

The world renowned Carlingford Oyster Festival offering a four day fun-filled festival for the whole family is packed with traditional children's activities including Magic Show, Face Painting, the ever popular Teddy Bear's Picnic, Free Kayaking in the Harbour, Children’s Funfair & Bouncing Castles.

Featuring the Kiddies Oyster Pearl Welly Hunt where the whole family can forage on the shores of Carlingford Lough to find treasures hidden within the shorelife and seashells.

Thursday 8th August
8.00pm Festival Official Opening by our Oyster Pearl Erin O'Connor in the Carlingford Arms. Gathering and formal introduction of the ‘Pearl Girls’ with Big O. Followed by live music with Henry Mac.

Friday 9th August
11.30am Pearl Water Sports at the Sailing Club Pier

3.00pm The Pearls go Oyster Farming  - Carlingford Oyster Company. The first task for The Oyster pearl contestants is to make sure that the best oysters are farmed for the festival.

4.00pm Funfair on the Village Green

8.00pm Festival Fashion Show - McKevitts Village Hotel

9.00 till late - Live music in bars

Saturday 10th August
All Day

Festival Street Market - Artisan Craft & Food Stalls; Sailing races on Carlingford Lough; Street entertainment throughout the day; Street Busking

11.30 - 2.30pm Historical Guided Walking Tour of the Medieval Sights of Carlingford
Starting Point: The Tourist Office, (Registration from 11.00am. Cost €5.00).

2.00 - 2.45pm Welly Oyster Pearl Hunt
Carlingford Sailing Club - Forage with the Oyster Pearl girls on the shore for the Carlingford Oyster with a genuine pearl. Hunt through the various seashells and shorelife to find treasures hidden within the shells. (Wear Wellies!) Prize Giving at Sailing Club 2.45pm.

3.15pm The Pearls go a Sheep Shearin’  Venue; Village Square - Be a judge as to who can give the sheep the best hair design in this hilarious task set for the’ Pearl Girls’

3.45pm Street Magic - Venue; Festival Stage at Village Square. The Carlingford Oyster Festival welcomes this wandering street Magician with tricks and spells that will make your eyes pop!

4.30pm Childrens Dancing Worlshop at Festival Stage in the Village Square.

Sunday 11th August

2.00pm Teddy Bears Picnic The Oyster Pearls want to take you and Teddy out for lunch! Enjoy this fun activity located in the Carlingford playground. Dress code pyjamas - not compulsory. Storytelling & face painting. Registration at The Tourist Office at 1.30pm. (Please register early to avoid disappointment). ALL children must be accompanied by one adult…and one teddy.

3.00 - 6.00pm Balloon Modelling, Stilt Walkers - Fire Breathers throughout the Village Centre

3.15pm World Crab Fishing Championship  at King Johns Pier - (weather permitting) All children MUST be accompanied by adults.
Prizes for the biggest, smallest crab, ugliest and most crabs.

4.00pm Childrens Dancing Worlshop at Festival Stage in the Village Square.

4.30pm Carlingford Pipe Band in Villge Centre.

4.45pm Oyster Eating Competition
The Oyster Festival Tent, Village Centre

5.00-7.00 Live Street Music 
Street entertainment and music by The Long Riders

9.00pm Crowning Of The Morgans Fine Fish Carlingford Oyster Pearl 2013
Four Seasons Hotel - Enjoy the dialogue with Patrice as she interviews the brave girls and see the spectacular awarding of the 2nd Morgans Fine Fish Carlingford Oyster Pearl. Great night of entertainment guaranteed.! Followed by live music by the Long Riders and special guest Henry Mac. Admission €10.00

10.00pm Oyster Opening Competition in the Four Seasons Hotel.
Annual competitive event between the oyster farmers, chefs and bar staff of the local establishments to prove themselves the best!
